HOW THE NIGHT RUNS

THE SESSION

  1. 1
    Meet at 7PMGather at Olympic Blvd (Under Glasshouse). Introductions and an overview structure of the night will be announced.

    2km Warm-UpA guided 2km warm-up run, beginning and ending at the meeting point.

    Workout Briefing & ExplanationOnce everyone is back from the warm-up, the workout, pace leader introductions and where each pace group will start for the night will be announced. The locations will either be:Near side of trackFar side of trackThe TanDisclaimer - if weather is a factor, locations are subjected to last minute changes.

    With 300+ runners we spread across all three zones — your pacer will be able to guide you to where your group is starting.

    WorkoutThe interval session is designed to improve your speed and endurance through repeated efforts over different distances, with a total of 6km of running. A common session is 6 x 1 km with 90 seconds standing rest between each rep, although the workout may vary each week. Your pace leader will explain the session before it begins and guide the group throughout the workout.

    Group photoTo conclude the night, a group photo will be taken on the oval. Runners are welcome to cool down on the track or grass after the session concludes.
RUNNER RULES
  • Running in lane 1 at all times, unless overtaking
  • Single file behind the pace leaders
  • All rest periods on the grass; look both ways before crossing the track
  • Runners to avoid using phone whilst being on the track and music should be reduced so you can hear your surroundings.
  • If you are planning your own session, please use the bridges/ tan
  • RED ZONE — the area between the oval boundary line and the track is off-limits for safety. When lining up to enter the track, form ONE line behind your pacer.
